課程概述

This class is designed to introduce students to the important topic of operations management with apprehension such as product and service design, capacity planning, management of quality and quality control, inventory planning, etc. The students in this class will learn not only the algorithms and techniques used to solve these related problems, but also the real-world applications that can comprehend these methods. The students are encouraged to utilize computers in every respect of this class. 

課程目標
本課程的重點在介紹一切與作業(operations)有關的經營管理問題,並探討各種機能應如何充分配合與發展,以便能有效且充分應用人力、材物料及設備,進而生產或提供適質、適量且合乎消費者需求的產品�服務之各種活動。課程內容包括︰預測、作業策略、製程管理與設備配置、品質管理、產品�服務之設計、產能規劃、供應鏈管理、存貨管理及排程、專案管理等單元。並將實際學習服務活動相關的調查分析。 
課程要求
Form each group with 5—8 persons. Select a case problem that could be solved by the techniques taught in this class. The cases can be found at the end of each chapter in the textbook. Prepare a 20 minutes presentation. Turn in a report less than 8 pages. The reports will be due the day of presentation.
Both mid-term and final exams will be take-home and open-book. No discussion is allowed among students when answering the exam questions. Cheating will result in severe penalty.
